Keeping track of it all: ip access-list log-update threshold

I’ve been doing some great studying lately. Here’s my progress: -Read up to page 85 on the CCIE Exam Cert Guide (4th edition) -Read 10-20 pages of the BCMSN book, used it to review on some layer 2 topics that the exam cert guide didn’t go into to much detail with -Did up to page [...]

TCP/IP Vol I goodness

I’ve been trucking away at TCP/IP Vol I lately, and it’s finally picking up steam! I had flipped through it before in my CCNP studies, but never cover to cover. I’m on page 202 right now, which isn’t bad considering I only started reading it a few days ago. The first 150 pages dragged on [...]

Back on the horse…for real.

Well, I’m getting back into the CCIE game..again. I had a false start last time. I got IEWB Vol I, which was a great book, and I made it pretty far through it, but I got sidetracked, and really wanted to complete my CCNP before going for the CCIE. Mostly so that I had [...]

Why are YOU going after the CCIE?

Anyone who’s been around my site for a while knows my aspirations of becoming a CCIE have gone on for a long time. I love this field, and thoroughly enjoy studying it. I must say though, things can change very fast- not only in this field we all know and love- but in life. It’s [...]

Not dead!

“I wasn’t satisfied just to earn a good living. I was looking to make a statement” – Donald Trump Well, I’m getting back into things. My life has been very busy in the last month or so. My older brother, Dan, is getting married in less then a month, I’m getting married myself in less [...]

QoS: Essentials, Part III

In the previous installment of this series (QoS: Essentials, Part II), we discussed types of marking, NBAR,  and Congestion management/queuing techniques. With part III, I intend on discussing Traffic shaping /policing, Congestion avoidance, and link efficiency mechanisms. Because of the sheer amount of information in QoS, I cannot cover all of the QoS spectrum, but I hope to instill [...]

Frame Relay Traffic Shaping (FRTS)

While at a first glance, Frame Relay Traffic Shaping (or FRTS) seems daunting..it’s really not bad. For those of you unfamiliar with FRTS, I’ll present a couple of scenarios where you may need to configure it. High speed interface –> Low speed interface:  Picture you have one node connecting to the frame relay cloud at [...]

My CCIE status

Well, I am feeling a lot better. Whatever I had was horrible, and took about 7-9 days to get rid of. I don’t feel 100% yet, but I’m back at work for better or worse. Figured I would make a post with my current status as it relates to CCIE study. I’ve been studying cisco [...]

Swine flu…

Well, I wish I had more to update you all with. I got very sick last week, with a temp of 102F, chills, body aches, and all the general symptoms that come with being “really” sick. I guess this was my karma, as I had been joking about how the H1N1 (formerly the “swine flu”) [...]
